Hi! If you don’t know me, I am Myranda and I am the founder of The Whole Almond. When I started this business, my son was in kindergarten and will soon be headed into his last year of Middle School.
Like most people that start a business, I noticed that there was a problem with most commercially available almond milk and I had the solution. I was appalled to learn that most almond milk available had little almond and was mostly filled with thickeners, preservatives, and synthetic vitamins. What started as a project at home to make the best almond milk for my family and eventually friends, has turned into a business that I am proud to have started.
From the very beginning, I have had a clear vision of my vision and motivation. I am focused on making products that are thoughtful and made with transparency and sustainability in mind. You’ll notice that our signature almond milk is made with just organic almonds and water. That’s it because all of the other ingredients are not needed.
In addition to creating products with only healthy ingredients, I have decided to package all of our milk products in glass bottles that have a refundable deposit. When customers return their bottles, we are able to reuse them and eliminate the need for purchasing a bottle and label for each bottle of milk that we produce.
I also believe in making sure that all people have access to nutritious food, regardless of their income level. Currently, I donate products to a local gleaners program whenever possible.
I am so grateful and thankful for all of the resources and mentors that have helped me. From the very beginning when I created my first business plan with the assistance of New Ventures Maine to more recently when I participated in the Top Gun program during the first year of the pandemic, I have learned so much about operating a small business. And like most people, my pandemic experiences have shaped the future of The Whole Almond.
Over the next few months, expect to see some changes to our products as well as some new products. I am excited and proud to be releasing these new products based on everything I have learned since I began this journey. These new changes will still be based on our current mission to provide nutritious products locally in the State of Maine.
Going forward, I am excited to announce that I will be donating a portion of profits from the new products to a local non-profit organization, Maine Needs. I will continue to donate products whenever requested.
